Ten kilometers of beach, ten centuries of olive trees

1 beaches

A serene olive-grove village with Evia's longest beach — ten unbroken kilometers of shore along the calm Euboean Gulf, plus diving, a medieval castle, and world-class olive oil.

Rovies is the kind of place that makes you reconsider your life choices — specifically, the choice not to live in a quiet Greek village surrounded by olive groves, mountains, and a ten-kilometer beach. Nestled at the foot of the Telethrio and Kavalaris mountains, this village of about 1,000 residents is wrapped in an endless sea of silver-green olive trees. The local oil is considered some of the finest in Greece. The beach is extraordinary in sheer scale: roughly ten kilometers stretching north and south, making it the longest continuous beach on Evia. The organized section has umbrellas, sunbeds, and a playground, while Hercules Beach to the south is quieter. A 13th-century medieval castle and the PADI-certified Argonauta Diving Resort add depth beyond the beach.

June-September for swimming. Olive harvest season (October-November) wonderful for a different experience — producers offer tastings.

From Chalkida: ~100 km northwest via Limni (~1.5-2 hours). KTEL buses from Chalkida to Edipsos stop at Rovies. 9 km north of Limni.

Book a session with Argonauta Diving Resort even as a beginner — underwater scenery is exceptional. Walk south to Hercules Beach for fewer people and wilder setting. Visit during olive harvest (late October) and ask tavernas about farm visits and fresh oil tastings.
