Where Byzantine history meets the Euboean shore

1 beaches

A traditional Byzantine-era village with cobblestone streets and a Venetian tower, paired with a 2.5 km pebbly beach and waterfront tavernas serving the morning's catch.

Politika is one of Evia's best-kept secrets hiding in plain sight — a traditional village just 25 kilometers from Chalkida that feels like it belongs to another century. Named by Byzantine-era settlers from Constantinople, the village is a maze of cobblestone streets, stone-built houses, towering maple trees, and bubbling natural springs. At its heart stands a 13th-century Frankish tower, a square medieval fortress pulling you straight back to the age of Crusader knights. The beach is where Politika truly shines: a sweeping 2.5-kilometer stretch of pebble shore hugs the western coast, with crystal-clear shallow waters perfect for families. Sun loungers and straw umbrellas dot the shoreline, and waterfront tavernas serve the morning's catch. At the far end, a picturesque offshore lighthouse stands guard.
