Sunset paradise under the pines

1 beaches

A pine-fringed resort on Evia's northern tip with a four-kilometer beach, legendary sunsets over Pelion, and daily boats to the Sporades. Island vibes without island prices.

Pefki is where the pine forest meets the Aegean and the sunsets are so spectacular the whole village seems to pause and watch. Named for the abundant pine trees reaching right down to the waterline, it frames a four-kilometer beach in deep green against turquoise blue. Across the water, the Pelion peninsula rises on the horizon, and on clear days you can see the Sporades islands floating in the haze. In winter a quiet fishing village; in summer one of northern Evia's most cosmopolitan destinations. Prices remain notably friendly compared to the islands. The harbor is Pefki's greatest asset — small boats depart daily for Skiathos, Skopelos, and Alonissos, meaning you can island-hop the Sporades on day trips.

June-September for beach and boat trips. July-August have most frequent Sporades boat services. Sunset best June through early September.

From Chalkida: 83 km north (~1.5 hours). From Athens: ~200 km (~2.5-3 hours). Alternative: ferry from Arkitsa to Edipsos, then 31 km east. KTEL buses available.

Take the daily boat to Skiathos — surprisingly affordable, two destinations in one day. Do not miss the sunset. Find a waterfront spot and watch the sky ignite behind Pelion. Use the local bus to Edipsos thermal springs (~3 EUR) for a unique half-day excursion.
