The beach that time politely forgot

1 beaches

A tiny, unspoiled beach settlement with two-kilometer pebbly shore, crystal-clear waters cooled by mountain springs, and a protected nature reserve behind.

Dafni is one of those quiet, unhurried corners of Evia that travelers stumble upon and immediately want to keep secret. This tiny beach settlement is little more than a handful of houses, two tavernas, and a long, luminous stretch of pebbly coastline. The sea here is startlingly clear and the beach extends nearly two kilometers, with turquoise waters uniquely cooled by underground mountain springs from Mount Kandyli. There are no beach bars blasting music, no rows of sunbeds. Instead, tamarisk trees offer natural shade, small waves lap against smooth stones, and that particular quality of silence exists that only comes from places the tourist industry hasn't quite discovered. Behind the beach stretches the Dafnonta Nature Reserve, a protected wildlife sanctuary with dense forest trails.

Dafni Beach (pebble) - ★ 0.0

June-September. At its most serene in June and early September. Never truly gets crowded.

From Chalkida: 35 km northwest past Politika and Nerotrivia (~45 min). From Athens: ~107 km (~2 hours).

Bring water shoes — medium-to-large pebbles and a narrow beach. Walk north into the Dafnonta Nature Reserve for a shaded forest trail — virtually unknown to tourists. Taverna Dafni on the beach is better for fish; Taverna Livadi up the hill has better views.
